Lying policeman who leaked information to suspect fined £4,000 Vaughan Roberts A DETECTIVE who leaked police information to a one-time suspected criminal was ordered to pay a £4,000 fine or face jail. Vaughan Roberts was said to have brought “disgrace” on the North Wales force with his lies, after he got hold of information about a friend on the police computer network. He then disclosed it to the man, Peter Lewis, a doorman from Talysarn near Caernarfon, who he’d accepted a £1,800 loan from. Welsh civil servants cost us £23k by failing to refuel hire cars Money CIVIL servants working for the Welsh Assembly Government ran up a £23,000 bill in service charges last year for neglecting to refill hire cars with fuel. The cost was over £2,000 more than in 2008, and more than double the refuel charges of £10,732 in 2004, according to figures revealed yesterday. The Welsh Liberal Democrats claimed that pressure from the party prompted WAG to almost halve the cost of hire cars for business from £1.04m in 2008 to £653,963 in 2009. Rabbit survives 35-mile trip from Betws y Coed in car engine Pwten the rabbit A WILD rabbit survived a 35-mile road trip stuck in a car engine. Mechanic Nigel Rowlands of Pant Waen garage, Waunfawr, near Caernarfon, got the fright of his life when he opened up the bonnet of a customer’s Skoda car. The car belonged to retired couple Joan and Dennis Cummins from Pentrefoelas, near Betws-y-Coed who had brought it in for its first year’s service – travelling 35 miles to the garage.
