Berwyn Mountains bike ride for girl who died from brain haemorrhage Layla Jayne Pitt THE memory of a young girl who died from a brain haemorrhage whilst on holiday in North Wales will be honoured during a special charity bike ride this month. Layla Jane Pitt, 11, collapsed in a supermarket in Caernarfon whilst on holiday in Porthmadog back in August 2008. The talented tap dancer and singer from Telford, member of Carmichael School of Dance since she was two, was rushed to Bangor’s Ysbyty Gwynedd before being transferred to the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool. Man charged over crash at crossingA 38-year-old man has been charged with endangering safety on the railway after 21 people were hurt when a train hit a sewage tanker on a level crossing, The first of the train's two carriages was derailed in the crash at Little Cornard, Suffolk, late on Tuesday. Government doubles aid to PakistanThe Government has announced that it will double aid to disaster-hit Pakistan. International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell said an extra £33 million was being offered on top of the £31.3 million already pledged to help cope with the effects of floods. Speaking in New York, Mr Mitchell told the UN General Assembly it was "unacceptable" that the international community had not done more, and urged other donors to step up their efforts. Mr Mitchell visited Pakistan on Wednesday before flying to New York to lobby the international community, particularly the G8, to do more to alleviate the humanitarian disaster. Forced contraception plan condemnedA council's plan to force contraception upon a woman with a low IQ was "essentially a horrendous prospect" that has "shades of social engineering", a judge has said. Mr Justice Bodey said he could not see how it could be acceptable for the court to impose contraception "by way of physical coercion". He said the local authority's plan, to stop the 29-year-old woman having more children, "would raise profound questions about State intervention in private and family life".
