Legal fears over Bersham tip removal Bersham Tip FEARS have been raised that no effective legal binds have been put on a company which is planning to pull down the iconic Bersham tip near Wrexham. Bersham Glenside Ltd won its legal battle with Wrexham council this week to dismantle the 50 metre high spoil heap from the former Bersham Colliery. Many have expressed dismay that a monumental piece of the region’s coal mining history would be erased. Conwy river taxi to be launched Conwy Estuary A NEW river taxi service linking Conwy and Deganwy will be launched tomorrow. There are high hopes the service between the two towns will boost tourism on both sides of the river. People can book the ten-seater open launch through a phone line. Old trees may halt Abergele flood defencesFLOOD defences which would protect hundreds of homes in a Conwy town have been approved subject to “landscaping issues”. Conwy council gave the provisional go-ahead for the defence work to be carried out in Abergele. The Environment Agency plans are meant to help safeguard around 230 properties that are currently at risk of flooding from Afon Gele. But work will only start if tree protection issues are resolved. Drug dealers target Anglesey beauty spotDRUG dealers using an Anglesey beauty spot to sell drugs are being targeted by sniffer dogs and extra police patrols. Reports of drug activities and anti-social behaviour at the Dingle Nature Reserve in Llangefni has prompted police to take action. This has seen a dog handler target the tourist spot along with additional police officers. Anglesey council is also stepping up its waste services at the site to clear away drug needles.
